Chef Shirley was a finalist on Bravo’s Top Chef Season 11 and she's currently Chef + Partner at Twenty Eight Restaurant and Lounge in Irvine California, a hidden gem in OC with more and more peope hearing about them every day. Her menu is a delicous combination of American Cuisine and Chinese Soul.
Before Top Chef was even on her radar, Chef Shirley made her way from Mainland China to the computer world of Silicon Valley. After years in the 'tech space' she decided it was time to follow her passion and reconnected with her love for food and cooking and found herself pivoting, the result of which was enrolling in culinary school. Being the inspiried and ambitious artist that she is, it was Chef Shirley's persoal goal to work with some of the best chefs in the world... and she did!
Starting with Thomas Keller at his world famous French Laundry, to Guy Savoy, Mario Batali and Jose Andres. In 2011, Chef Shirley also opened China Poblano, where she worked as Exectuve Chef for Jose Andres and was nominated for Best New Restaurant Award by James Beard in 2011.
Chef Shirley next big adventure would be striking out on her own. So now, along with her savvy + creative + talented partner, Stacie Tran and with 'art + joy, story + soul' at the heart of all of her delicious creations, she's making some BIG things happen... on her terms!
